Hire 100 new police officers. Implement proactive and community policing instead of merely reacting to crime. Increase pay for all law enforcement and first responders, and provide them with the necessary tools and training to perform their jobs effectively.
Creating a business-friendly environment for job creation is not rocket science. It is currently too difficult and expensive to operate a business in East Baton Rouge. We will establish a One-Stop Shop Permitting Office and cut red tape to expedite small business approvals. Additionally, we will eliminate burdensome regulations so businesses can maximize productivity. Most importantly, taxes are too high. We need to cut wasteful spending and balance the budget to lower taxes!
Addressing traffic and infrastructure requires both short-term and long-term solutions. In the short term, my administration will make common-sense decisions, such as closing the old Washington Street exit on I-10. Long-term, we will tackle larger projects like widening Airline Highway and adding flyovers at key intersections to improve traffic flow toward I-12.
There are currently 6,000 condemned properties in our parish. My goal is to demolish 125 properties each month for four years to eliminate all of them. We will prioritize “trap houses” which are abandoned properties often used for prostitution, drug distribution, and other crimes.
Homelessness is a major issue, and we cannot allow people, especially our veterans, to live on the streets. We will partner with our state and federal government to build a psychiatric facility to treat those with mental illness and drug addiction.
